			Hubert Dudley Sampson went by Barney and was a professor of psychology and the first Chair of the Psychology Department at Auckland University, New Zealand. He married Jean Kerr (OBE) in Saskatchewan about 1950 and died in North Shore City, Auckland, New Zealand Apr 29, 1998. Hie wife, Jean (Kerr) Sampson worked as a Law Clerk and was the elected as Mayor of Northcote, Auckland, New Zealand (1979). At the time of her election she was the only female Mayor in New Zealand and only the third female to be elected to that position in the country's history. She served in that capacity for a number of terms. She was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1991 and retired from active politics in 1992. Jean died May 20, 2008 also in North Shore City, Auckland, New Zealand.
